Climb Mount Kilimanjaro
The Make A Difference (MAD) Kilimanjaro Fundraiser Climb enables hikers to send 22 children at the orphanage we support in Tanzania to a wonderful highly academic school in Himo, Tanzania. The hike is gorgeous and strong friendships, laughter and fun can be had along the way.
Our fundraiser climb provides the children with a uniform, classes taught in English, two meals a day and transport from the orphanage to school. Committing your time and money to this fundraiser will help ensure that our goal of education for orphaned children is met.
Location
Mount Kilimanjaro is located in Tanzania, Africa. Lodging off the mountain will be in Moshi, Tanzania.
Schedule
First week will be spent at orphanage reading and playing sports with the children you will be climbing for. Second week will be spent climbing with last day at hotel relaxing near the pool before you fly back.
After hiking Mount Kilimanjaro, participants will return to Moshi town and stay at a hotel with hot showers and a pool (bed and breakfast). The next day they will be transported to Kilimanjaro International Airport where they may catch their connecting flights.
Requirements
To participate in this climb you must:
- Be 18 years of age or have a guardian with you
- Be in good health and exercise regularly
- Have no history of high altitude sickness
- Be very physically fit
- Have a positive attitude and teamwork mentality
Program Cost
Each participant should be prepared to raise up $3,500, which we can help you fundraise. Money raised will take care of:
- Donation to our Education Fund for the Children
- Airport pickup & Drop Off
- 24 Hour Security & Assistance
- 2 days of safari (Lake Manyara & Ngorongoro Crater)
- Swahili & Cultural Lessons
- Park entrance fee and 6 days of climbing to the top or Kilimanjaro and back
- Climbing Guide, 4 Porters, Cook and Assistant Guide
- 1 week of time with the children at the orphanage
- 6 days/ 5 nights at guest house near orphanage
- 7 days/ 6 nights hiking and camping on mountain with staff
- 2 days/ 1 night camping on safari
- 1 night hotel with pool after safari
- All meals
- All transport
