Role or Purpose of Position Make A Difference (MAD) conducts various events including Charity Hikes, Family, Corporate and Individual Volunteer programs. Our charity hikes at MAD now play a vital tool in communicating not only what we do but “why” we do it. Our events give voice to the passion we have for all that we do.
Our Events and Sponsorship Coordinator position is key to our success and requires a highly organized, creative, detail oriented and motivated person to serve as lead for event planning, revenue generation, management, production and sponsorship. This position deals with a wide range of responsibilities: seeking & securing sponsorships for the orphaned and impoverished children we help, event theme building, creating event programs, communicating with event attendees & corporate donors as well as assisting with marketing.
You must be able to work independently, anticipate project needs, discern work priorities, and meet deadlines. The Coordinator should have a passion for events, provide clear communication to our Executive Director and Administrative Assistant, event attendees and volunteers, be an enthusiastic professional, and be capable of building strong and positive relationships with donors and partners.
Major Duties and Responsibilities Serve as the lead for event planning, revenue generation, management, production and sponsorship. Create and manage the timeline, program and task list for all MAD hosted events, meetings and discussions. Help organize and collaborate with our Executive Director and marketing consultants on event concept, graphic design/production/printing and event marketing. Lead the solicitation and securing of sponsorships for the children we help as well as our fundraising events. Help organize and manage attendees’ registrations prior to events then follow-up with them after the events.
Event Revenue Generation Lead the solicitation and securing of sponsorships Create event sponsorship packages Exceed revenue goals
Event Administration includes but is not limited to: Assist with preparing budgets and provide regular progress reports to our Executive Director for each event project. Keep track of event revenue with MAD’s bookkeeper Prepare and modify event partnership contracts as requested.
Qualifications Required B.A. degree from accredited university. 3+ years prior experience coordinating special events Experience with office administration. Proven track record of generating revenue from events Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written). Superior time management skills, multi-tasking abilities, team playing skills. Budget management and negotiation skills. Ability to accomplish projects independently. Excellent interpersonal skills with a high level of professionalism. Fantastic donor and volunteer coordination and high expectations for quality. Internet research and email savvy. Computer skills: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Salesforce (can be trained). Must be creative but review ideas with Executive Director before implementing.
Preferred CMP (Certified Meeting Planner) with experience working with nonprofits Experience in events with fiscal goals Enjoys a very collaborative environment.
Organizational Relationships The Events and Sponsorship Coordinator is supervised by the Executive Director.
Challenges of The Position The challenge to the individual holding the Events and Sponsorship Coordinator position is functioning in an environment characterized by growth and transition. On an ongoing basis, the main challenge will be an ability to thrive in an environment that requires significant self-initiative, anticipate project needs, manage multiple projects at once, and collaborate among team members both internal and external.
Salary Salary will be determined based on your experience and geographical cost of living.
