From MAD Scholar to NICU Nurse: Jackline’s Journey
For Jackline, the journey to becoming a nurse began with the opportunity to continue her education.
Jackline joined Make A Difference Now as one of our Orphan to College students, receiving the support she needed to stay in school and work toward the future she envisioned for herself. With that support, she was able to pursue higher education and eventually graduate from Aga Khan University with a degree in Nursing.

Today, Jackline is putting that education into practice in one of the most demanding and meaningful areas of nursing: the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).
In the NICU, Jackline cares for premature babies and newborns facing a range of health challenges. Her work requires patience, compassion, and careful attention as she helps care for some of the hospital’s smallest and most vulnerable patients.
“I really enjoy helping and caring for these little ones.”

For Jackline, nursing is more than a career. It is an opportunity to use the education she worked so hard to achieve to care for others when they need it most.
Her journey is also a reflection of what educational support can make possible. She began as a student who needed an opportunity to continue her education. Today, she is a trained nurse using that education to serve others.
Jackline’s story is a reminder that when a student is given the chance to pursue an education, the impact can extend far beyond one person.
Help Make More Journeys Like Jackline’s Possible
Jackline’s journey began with access to education and the support to keep moving forward. There are many more students who are working toward their own goals and need someone to believe in their potential.
Your support can help provide students with the education and opportunities they need to build a future, and use what they learn to make a difference in their communities.
